Ponyo - Make A Splash by Falsetto-Waltz Ponyo - Make A Splash by Falsetto-Waltz
I had almost not done this contest, but then, last night, I was inspired, and somehow managed to come up with something I actually like. [Had to be God, because I only had an image of what I wanted it to look like, and no really idea how to get it done.]

Ponyo was a lovely movie. I adore Hayao Miyazaki's work. This is the first time I had the guts to try to do art inspired by him. I hope it's liked.

.^___^.

I've never drawn jellyfish before, but those were really fun. They're anatomy, no doubt, is way off, but at least you can tell what the deuce they are!

Looks nice, I haven't watched this movie yet but most of people tell me that this movie is quite good. Plus now I see Disney have their hand in this japanese production, I wonder if they didn't made it too "soft" :P
I'll fave this drawing because is really cool how you done the art with incredible colorful. Again, keep it up! :3

It is really gooood! You must see it! .^___^. I think the story was really sweet and simplistic, like taking a walk with a child and seeing the world as they enjoy it. Thank you so much for your comment, I really appreciate it! :huggle:

>___< I felt SOOOOO bad when I noticed this very thing! I felt like I copied or something! Hahaha. I almost took down my piece, in light of feeling like I'd stolen the brilliance of another.

Hahaha, but I guess it can't be helped. Thinking along similar strains of thought cannot be avoided, entirely. [Though I'm sure you're saner than I am!] Personally I take great joy in sharing a similar concept with a brilliant artist. I just am glad to find that you don't seem troubled by our similar pieces. .>___<. Hahahaha!

oh no, it's totally normal :P i'm sure whatever we draw has already been drawn before! i actually have this weird obsession with drawing different things, i always upload sketches JUST in case it ends up similar with a different piece out there, so that people may warn me. v_V i'm obsessive like taht hahaha, i really dont' want to go through submitting a piece that's so similar to a piece that's already been submitted months, even YEARS earlier. it really takes a strain on teh artist, to know that all that hard work might be misunderstood. although i do admit when i was younger and still developing, i would take bits and pieces of an artwork and try to reconstruct it into my own pieces, as a learning technique. i got rid of those though, cuz i'm done that stage. xD but yeah lol no worries, ours were submitted so close taht no one can say anything about it haha :> but yes.. *_* we must think alike... (lol i just realised i repeated myself) MUAHAHAHAHAH

LATE RESPONSE OF DOOM! GOMEN!

Eh, you've a point. Even with all our deviant ways of looking at things, there will always be similarities, because with all these creative minds it's really nearly impossible not to draw something that looks like something else another has drawn. It's all just about the individual style and expression of those similar qualities that make a piece. Or so I think...meh. ^___^

That's actually really well thought out, submitting sketches. So many people make assumptions or get critical of others who display talent...it can be rather troublesome, admittedly. It's too bad you even have to take such precautions, but it's good you do.

I used to do the same. Taking bits from other artworks and reconstructing them in one's own piece. Sometimes I still look to other works or at photographs to get inspiration for a particular feel or look that I'm aiming for...but that's because I've such a way to go, and so much that I still haven't drawn or know how to draw. ~___~

Really, thank you for being so understanding about our similar pieces for the Ponyo contest, I'm flabbergasted that you didn't win. I was so sure you would, your pieces were truly phenomenal. ^__^

*Pokes the similar thoughts* Whoa! Brain connectivitaaaay!

*bricked*

[Hahaha, it's all good. I repeat myself excessively...and I really didn't notice that last bit was a rephrasing of the initial statement until you said something, as it wasn't repetition verbatim.]

haha, i think its the most beautiful piece of artwork in the whole folder, and I wouldn't be surprised if it won, but it reminds me of that creepy scene in Hook where the three sexy mermaids started making out with a drowning Robin Williams

i think its the closed eyes that gives it a very sensual feel and its weird to see regarding seven year olds XD

i woudlnt worry about it though, unless you wanna give the boy an open eye and re upload it, but otherwise its just my perverted mind, right? lol.

its fuckin gorgeous.

Why thank you! I am moved that you think as much.

Hahahaha, I saw some of Hook, but I don't particularly recall that scene. But I'll take your word for it. Hahaha, I didn't mean to remind you of such a traumatizing scene. >___<

It is the closed eyes, they lend the sensation of a sort of private caress. But with his eye open, it just looked like he was drowning, which wasn't the feel I was going for.

Hahahah, children grasp how to love, so I suppose, if one's mind could think of a more pure and avid sort of affection, it doesn't seem too horrendously mature. [Hahaha, that may be stretching things...]

I'm glad you think so highly of my piece. You made me laugh and put a smile on my face, and I must thank you for this.

Eeeh, not so much work, I probably should have been more dedicated, and done some of the things I'd considered while I was still working on it. Then I got hungry and was like, "SCREW THIS!" Hurrrr...>___<

Aaaaw, that's too bad. I was feeling similarly when they had that Bring Your Vision To Life contest based off of dreams. I could have gone to a million places with that one. But moving and lack of proper internet really wrecked my ability to work on any serious art. ~___~ I hope you'll soon be able to get back into the swing of things and pursue the things you desire. I'll keep you in my prayers my friend. ^___^

Aaaaah, I see what you mean. I wish I didn't have time to do that. I've been job searching for weeks now...bah.

I find that sort of thing frustrating, when I see a piece that's very much what I'd imagined...because I still struggle with capturing the things I really want to draw. >__< Hahah, I pray I continue to grow out of that disability.
